Walking your neighborhood prayerfully can help you truly discover the stories and the sacred spaces. While intercession for your place is certainly valuable, I believe that being able to see your space as God sees it to be even more valuable. Whenever I explore a neighborhood I consider these 5 spaces:
- Civic – schools, government, places of conflict, stories of neighborhood
- Community – third places, coffee shops, breweries, pubs, fitness
- Creation – natural spaces, restored or reclaimed spaces
- Cultural – galleries, studios, music venues
- Christ centered – restorative ministries, churches
Then I may create an elaborate walking route or simple meditations for along the way
